Artist's Statement

Imagination is something we all share as humans and letting it out to take shape creatively is a blessing. Being able to create things that bring beauty and pleasure to other peoples' lives is one of life's greatest joys for me. Nature, in all her abundant shapes and colors, fascinates me and my paintings depict my vision of nature – beaches, sunrises, sunsets, rain, deep space - through the use of vibrant, rich color and energetic movement.

It is through painting that I was able to process and heal the trauma of my mother’s death after a long battle with mental illness and addiction. Painting gives me peace, calm, time to think. Painting is like coming home. With each brushstroke I stepped back into myself, finding my voice and healthy balance.

Come along with me on this journey in my new book 'Permission to Land: Searching for Love, Home & Belonging' available on www.MarciBrockmann.com, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.

Always drawn to my native landscape of Long Island, I passionately paint its beaches, waterways and terrain. The waterways that flow in and out of the inlets, through the barrier islands and beaches of the south shore react with the man-made architecture and the sun to create uncomprehendingly beautiful views. This painting depicts the breathtaking view of a vibrant orange sunrise reflected across the Great South Bay and the Fire Island Inlet Bridge. This painting will enhance any Long Island home.
