East Village Urban Primitive Pop Art Comes to Dix Hills
June 10 - July 7
Reception: Sunday, June 11 - 1pm to 3pm
Live Painting Event: Saturday, June 17 - 8pm to 10pm

Billy the Artist brings his exciting brand of internationally acclaimed pop art to Dix Hills June 10 through July 7, in his first Long Island show featuring abstract works created in his own inimitable style. The paintings, created specifically for the exhibit in the Art League of Long Island’s Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery, will mark the very first time they will be seen by the public, so be careful not to touch any wet paint!

Two opportunities to meet the artist will happen: first at the reception on June 11, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and then at the live art performance on Saturday, June 17 from 8:00pm to 10:00pm where Billy will create a painting before a live audience in his signature style, set to an eclectic selection of music spun by DJ Spacey Sissick. Both events are free and open to the public.

For the world launch of Billy’s watches for Swatch, he painted a 40x30 foot mural live in front of 30,000 people while 300 foot animated projections of his work adorned the walls of Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy during the Venice Biennale. BTA was also one of the first American artists to be allowed by the Chinese government to paint live on the famous Bund in Shanghai. Philanthropic projects include work with The American Red Cross, Live On NY, The Fresh Air Fund, Covenant House, St. Mary’s Foundation for Children, The JCC of Manhattan, The Breathe Foundation Brazil, and various schools both in the U.S and abroad.
Nightflight.com has said of BTA: “In his colorful and expressive line of work, Billy manages to capture the unique electrifying ethos of New York’s East Village. Sitting somewhere between Keith Haring and a more populist approach to the graffiti aesthetic, his work has caught the attention of the art, design and fashion tastemakers with major brands…”
