Vivien Pollack has over 30 years in the industry as a Textile Designer, Silk Painter and Teacher. Experience includes designing for the textile print industry, creating original designs that were sold to manufacturers. She learned how to paint on silk while designing for an upscale design studio in N.Y.C and fell in love with the medium. She has since exhibited her award winning silk art in galleries and shows on Long Island as well as Santa Fe New Mexico and Maryland, including the Dennis and Philip Ratner Museum, University of Maryland and the Sandy Springs Museum of Maryland. Her award winning silk paintings have been in the New York Times and in the book “The Best of Silk Painting “by Tuckman and Janas as well as the L.I. Village Connection Magazine. Vivien now sells her hand-painted silk scarves online in her Etsy shop Vivien Pollack Design. She has also participated in public art projects and has done numerous murals in private homes and businesses. She has also taught in libraries and has been a speaker and demonstrator for organizations. Vivien also enjoys plein air painting with oils. She loves sharing the techniques she has learned over the 17 years of teaching with her students at the Long Island Art League. She likes her classes to have a relaxed atmosphere and she welcomes the non-artist to join her classes. She offers a supportive environment to let the artist’s show themselves. When relaxed, and we know no one is judging us the inner artist reveals itself.
