Internationally known artist, Lucienne Pereira's site-specific sculptural installation of large-scale textile work and interactive wall art of hundreds of wood pieces all share a story of growth, development, and the search for existential meaning.

Poetically, her works approach ideas of vulnerability, determination, optimism and struggle. These concepts are rooted in personal experiences: as a Brazilian growing up in Rio de Janeiro, a heterogeneous society where people struggle for survival under harsh conditions, and as a foreigner in New York and the Netherlands, where she had to find her way in a new habitat, and finally, as an observer of life in our contemporary moment where many people feel ideologically, intellectually, geographically, spiritually and culturally displaced.

Ms. Pereira's current installation is supported by the NYSCA Decentralization Grant Program through the Huntington Arts Council.
