Each lecture is $15

Stella Rose n Elena Kanagy Loux

EVER WONDER HOW TO ”MAKE IT” AS AN ARTIST? Adults and teens are invited to join us for this lecture series with seven New York City based artists who are “Makin’ it” and are very Art at Work. Each artist will tell you their story, introduce you to their work, and share their secrets to success! Learn about an artist's work both in and beyond the studio from emerging and mid-career artists and designers who are finding success in the ever-changing fields of art and design.

11/11 STELLA ROSE SAINT CLAIR, milliner and designer - 1-2:00pm
Stella Rose St. Clair is an expert milliner, fashion designer, blogger, model, and overall “it” girl living in Brooklyn, NY. She’ll tell you about designing couture headwear and costumes for pop star Melanie Martinez, forming her brand IWEARSTELLA, and her recent feature in NYLON magazine.

11/18 ELENA KANAGY-LOUX, textile artist/lacemaker & MARINA PRESS - 1-2:30pm
In 2015, FIT graduate and textile artist Elena Kanagy-Loux won the George T. Dorsch Art Historical Award, enabling her to go on a four-month trip across Europe to study the historical art of lacemaking. Now she is back in NYC, working on a book on her experiences and preparing workshops and lectures about bobbin lacemaking. She is co-founder of the Brooklyn Lace Guild.

AND Curator Marina Press- ‘Art at Work’ is curated by New York- based art historian Marina Press. While she was the Associate Director of Bernarducci Meisel Gallery she became involved with the community of the Art League of Long Island. In 2016, she was the Juror of the exhibition 'Art in Motion'. She continues to contribute to the community by presenting this lecture series!
